    14. Colin Fox: To ask the Scottish Executive whether the decision to close six schools in Edinburgh and five schools in Midlothian has been taken with the best educational interests of children in mind. (S2O-1892)

    The Minister for Education and Young People (Peter Peacock): Education authorities are always required to act in light of their statutory duties to provide adequate and efficient education, to improve the quality of that education, and to ensure that it is directed to developing children's fullest potential. Detailed policies and decisions are a matter for each authority.
