Firstly let me say that I am writing on behalf of Midlothian SNP to express our concerns at the way these school closures are being handled.

SNP policy is to work on the basis of a pre-disposition that such schools should not be closed. We are deeply concerned at the prospect of schools closures, which coupled with closing of post offices and other amenities, we believe are impacting on the viability of our communities.

SNP is also completely opposed to PPP which results in private enterprise making profit at the expense of the public purse. The results to date have been disappointing to say the least. We propose the establishment of Not for Profit Trusts which means that control and profit remains within the community and can be reinvested within the community.

An exhaustive assessment is clearly required.

    regards
    Colin Beattie
