  • The Campaign Issues : Responses from the Moorfoot Community Council

    Moorfoot Community Council

Representing the Midlothian Villages of Borthwick, Carrington, Middleton & Temple together with the surrounding landward area up to the Moorfoot Hills

    29th March 2004

    The Cabinet
    Midlothian Council

    Dear Sirs

Re: Proposed Closure of Rural Schools

I write on behalf of the Community Council. We represent the unanimous view of the whole Community & oppose the Proposed Closure of the Rural Schools.

As two of the proposed schools (Borthwick & Temple) are within the remit of Moorfoot Community Council we would like to express our extreme disappointment in not being officially notified. Our news of this proposed catastophic blow to the rural areas came first of all via the article written in The Advertiser on 19th February 2004 & after that from concerned parents etc.

We are sure you are now aware of the strength of opposition now facing Midlothian Council, as everyone throughout the Midlothian Countryside speaks as one voice & that voice is anger about the closure of all the rural schools.

PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS PROPOSAL. MAKE A MAGNANIMOUS GESTURE.

    KEEP THE RURAL SCHOOLS OPEN

    Yours sincerely

    Margaret P Munro (Mrs)
    Secretary
