  • MRSAG Representatives meet John Swinney, Shadow First Minister.

Representatives from the Midlothian Rural Schools Action Group met with Shadow First Minister, John Swinney on Wednesday 31st March at Dalkeith Arts Centre to discuss the issues concerning our campaign.

Parents from all the schools proposed for closure had almost an hour to highlight their concerns with Midlothian Council's plans and John responded to questions and offered advice from a Scottish Parliament perspective.

John took a couple of queries away for further investigation however the main point that came out of the meeting was the need to keep raising our concerns to all councillors by letter, dialogue, attending councillor surgeries and any other means.

The MRSAG would like thank John Swinney for offering this chance to discuss the school closures and showing his support for our campaign. We would also like to thank Colin Beattie (Midlothian SNP Spokesperson) for his efforts in securing a slot in John's busy timetable.
