Educational Achievement at Borthwick
|
|
These results show that Borthwick is a high achieving school.
(Source: Scottish Office Education Department) |
The maximum teaching capacity of the school is 47 pupils. Between 1995 and 2001,
the school roll was 38 at its lowest (80.8% of capacity), which placed it above the 80% level that requires Scottish Executive
approval for closure. The imposition of the cap has artificially reduced the school roll below the 80% level by blocking placement
requests from outwith the catchment area.
Property
The council has invested in excess of £100,000 in the last few years to
improve the facilities at Borthwick:
- Major refurbishment, altering internal layout to provide general purpose area including PC suite and staff base
- Storage area created for dining tables, plus mezzanine attic storage
- Redecoration throughout
- New windows installed
- State of the art central heating system installed
- Playground resurfaced and play shed renovated
Quote from follow up to the HM Inspectorate Report 2001: “The Education Authority has undertaken a major refurbishment
of the school...The Authority has completed this refurbishment very well.”
