> Visiting > Getting Here
With Rosslyn Chapel only a few miles away, Temple is often next on the list for places to see with the history of the Knights Templar in the area. However getting here is not easy, with no direct public transport available, so options are limited to hiring a car or a taxi.
If you are driving, then it is fairly straightforward as you can see by the map below. Take the A7 south from Edinburgh until the crossroads at the south of Gorebridge, and taking the signposted B6372 road to Temple. you can drive direct from Roslin to Temple, but it is across country roads - so take a map! Otherwise you can head for the city bypass and join the A7 there.
If driving is not an option, then there are several buses that will get you to Gorebridge where you can arrange for a taxi to take you the final 2 miles.
We recommend the First Group "X95" from Edinburgh Bus Station which is the quickest and most reliable service, for £1.10 each way. Buses are about every 30 minutes and stop on the A7 at Birkenside at the south of Gorebridge, near the turning for the B6372. The timetable can be viewed here, and it is recommended to arrange for any taxis before your journey begins.
We have been given some estimates of taxi prices in the Temple area from Arial ABW Cabs in Dalkeith:
